Single Route Busing
Single Route Busing is an evaluation of overall district effectiveness and efficiency. The district is in the process of finding ways to reduce 1.1 Million dollars by 2015. By adopting single routes, we are projected to save between $900,000 to 1.4 Million dollars in ten years.

The North Union Board of Education voted on February 13, 2012 to proceed with the plans for single route busing. This plan will go into effect beginning the 2012-2013 school year. The timeline for the plan is as follows:

  • In March, all new routes will be designed and the request for volunteer parent bus aides will be made.
  • In April, bus drivers will bid for new routes.
  • In May, letters will go home to parents about their students’ bus number, bus driver’s name and approximate pick-up and drop-off times.
  • In May, there will be a parent meeting where any questions may be addressed at this time.
  • In August, the training of parent volunteers and student bus coaches will take place.
  • In August, drivers will contact each student’s family to confirm pick-up and drop-off times for the 2012-2013 school year.
