Transportation

Facts and Figures

  • Over 75% of North Union's students are transported daily by the district to and from school.  Approximately 1175 students are transported daily on one of 17 regular bus routes and shuttles.

  • North Union buses travel 1000 miles daily or 184,000 miles annually.  The average daily mileage driven by each bus is 62 miles and the average of students transported on each bus is 61.

  • North Union has a dedicated and experienced staff of drivers with approximately 10 years experience.

  • At an average cost of $919 per student rider per school year, North Union operates one of the most cost-effective school transportation systems in the state of Ohio.

  • North Union has a regular bus replacement schedule. Buses are purchased through the Metropolitan Education Cooperative (MEC) to get the most competitive prices.

  • If your child is being dropped off and/or picked up at an address other than the home address,  you must fill out an Alternate Transportation Walker/ Rider form.  You may pick up this form at any building or at the Transportation Office located at the bus garage.  Each request will be reviewed on a case by case basis for approval.  Approval depends on bus capacity for the alternate location.
