NUE 5th Graders "Plant" New Knowledge!

The fifth graders have read and learned about animal and plant cells this past week which is within our Life Science unit. They were responsible for knowing the 4 major parts of the animal cell, which are: Cell membrane, cytoplasm, nucleus, and mitochondrion. Each one of these parts is responsible for the cell part to perform. The plant has 7 major parts that the fifth graders were to know and they are: Mitochondrion, nucleus, vacuole, cytoplasm, chloroplast, cell membrane and the cell wall. They were to know the differences in the two cells, and that a plant cell can make its own food with chloroplast and the sun's energy, and an animal cell cannot. Then they were given an extra credit paper to design their own plant or animal cell and label the parts. The fifth graders who participated did an excellent job!
