Engaging Students The O.G. Way!

Orton Gillingham is a sensory based reading methodology designed to help students become better readers. It consists of ensuring students can name letter sounds, as well as identify the many combinations to make specific sounds. By playing on the multiple nerve endings in the finger, using sand to identify sounds helps students internalize reading and spelling concepts. Mrs. Horn's students were identifying letter combinations and tracing them in the sand!
