WHEREAS, the North Union Local School District Board of Education is extremely proud of the efforts of the entire district staff which has continued to educate, feed, and transport to provide a safe and clean environment as they implement in-person, hybrid, and remote learning, and develop robust educational plans in response to the National Pandemic; and

WHEREAS, the North Union Local School District students and families, from preschool through grade twelve, who have gone above and beyond to adhere to protocol, remain engaged with in-person, hybrid, and remote learning, uphold an outstanding sense of community and support for the district during times of uncertainty and challenge; and

WHEREAS, the North Union Local School District Board of Education has named January 4, 2021, as Excellent Pandemic Response Day; and

WHEREAS, the North Union Local School District Board of Education honors the teaching staff and educational aides who have made phone calls, sent emails, created instructional videos, used Google Meet for student support, emailed and texted students of all grade levels at all hours of the day and night while maintaining the commitment to provide a quality education to all in-person, quarantined, isolated and online North Union students; and

WHEREAS, the North Union Local School District Board of Education honors the kitchen staff who have fed our students since the beginning of the pandemic, prepared and provided two quality FREE meals, five days per week at drop off points across the district, and in buildings, for students who attend the North Union Digital Academy and the non-school age children of the North Union community; and

WHEREAS, the North Union Local School District Board of Education honors all bus drivers and transportation staff who ensured the cleanliness of all district vehicles while transporting our students safely and who have delivered meals and classroom resources since the onset of the pandemic including summer months; and

WHEREAS, the North Union Local School District Board of Education honors all custodial and maintenance staff who have seamlessly executed regular cleanings and mid week deep cleanings, installed plexi-glass partitions in classrooms and common areas; and

WHEREAS, the North Union Local School District Board of Education honors all administrative assistants and secretarial staff members who have streamlined customer service to all students and families and acted as frontline communication experts for questions, concerns, and challenging situations on a daily basis; and

WHEREAS, the North Union Local School District Board of Education honors our school health care provider who is the Registered Nurse who has monitored health and safety protocols, coordinated contact tracing, and communication; and

WHEREAS, the North Union Local School District Board of Education honors our School Counselors and Social Workers who have supported our students and families with academic, behavioral, and social needs; and

WHEREAS, the North Union Local School District Board of Education honors all athletic coaches, extra-curricular advisors, and athletic directors who have maintained a high level of safe participation while adhering to all the pandemic protocols so that our students may continue to participate in extracurriculars; and

WHEREAS, the North Union Local School District Board of Education honors the technology department and academic coaches for their dedication in providing a 1: 1 environment and support for all students kindergarten through grade twelve as well as their continued preparation, implementation and training of staff on new platforms and learning systems to deliver remote, hybrid, and in-person instruction to our students; and

WHEREAS, the North Union Local School District Board of Education honors all administrators for the extraordinary efforts to develop the Reset and Restart plan and the leadership to communicate with staff and students to maintain the high quality instruction in-person, hybrid and remote, and with limited staff due to quarantine and isolation, and for their focus on what is best for kids and growth of staff; and

WHEREAS, the North Union Local School District Board of Education honors all fiscal office staff and their ability to navigate operations without interruption during mandated shutdowns and quarantines and reallocation of funds to provide needed resources to teaching staff and custodial staff; and

WHEREAS, the North Union Local School District Board of Education honors all special education service providers including intervention specialists, instructional aides, and all therapists including Occupational, Physical, and Speech and Hearing, and providing services for students from in-person, hybrid, and online delivery during extenuating circumstances; and

WHEREAS, the North Union Local School District Board of Education honors all students and families for the unwavering grace and resiliency displayed toward every challenge that has preceded them and for their unmatched support of the district;

NOW, THEREFORE, we, members of the North Union Local Schools District Board of Education, do hereby proclaim January 4, 2021 as ''NORTH UNION LOCAL SCHOOLS EXCELLENT PANDEMIC RESPONSE DAY" and take great pleasure in presenting this proclamation to the North Union community, students, faculty, support staff, and parents/families of North Union Local Schools for this outstanding achievement.
