North Union Local School District News Article

Date Change - School Starts September 8, 2020

North Union High School is actively preparing to welcome students back to school. The school year will begin on September 8, 2020.  We miss our students greatly and look forward to meeting our freshman class!

A task force of teachers and administrators is collaborating on three different schedules for the school year: 100% attendance with social distancing measures, 50% attendance with social distancing measures, and fully remote learning. Our goal is to create the three schedules in a manner that will provide fluidity over the course of the school year. It is our aim to maintain student choice of elective classes and allow every course the opportunity to meet in person in the 100% and 50% models, as well as meeting virtually in the fully remote model. Student schedules will be available in Progress Book at least one week before school resumes.

We are taking measures to ensure the health and safety of every student according to recommendations from the CDC/health department. Please see the Reset & Restart Guide on the district website (nuschools.org). This website is your best source for current information.

All students must be registered yearly through OneView, our online student data system. This includes students attending Tri Rivers. Please complete registration by August 24, 2020. Visit nuschools.org and click on the registration tab (left side of screen) to access OneView. If you would like to receive phone messages, text messages, and email messages from the school/district, you must select each one of these communication options individually in OneView.

We will not be holding a traditional welcome back night. However, we are planning (health alerts permitting) an opportunity for parents and students to come into the building before school resumes to learn about safety protocol, ask questions, and tour the building. We will likely handout freshman Chromebooks at that time. More information will be forthcoming. School pictures will take place during the school day once school resumes.

Thank you for your patience and encouragement through these uncertain times. The road ahead will likely require additional patience and flexibility. I pledge to you that the staff and I will do our very best to care for your student academically and emotionally and to communicate with you effectively. If I can be of service, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly at [email protected] or 740-943-3012.

Sincerely,

Janel Chapman

NUHS Principal
