FFA donates food to local pantry

The North Union FFA chapter created a seven-foot by seven-foot school emblem out of cans that will be delivered to REAP (Richwood Emergency Assistance Program) Food Pantry.

The "If we build we can help” campaign was a huge success. The Senior FFA members used 1,158 cans of creamed corn, corn and cut green beans to complete the task. The members worked with the Ohio Small Grains Council to secure a grant to assist in the purchase of supplies. All FFA members were asked to also bring in cans.

The members also involved teachers across curriculums to help with design and installation. Brad Lautar (math teacher) helped calculate how many cans would be needed and Paige Bayer (art teacher) donated art supplies.

The school emblem replica took one week to build and 560 cans to complete. With FFA member contributions and a $500 grant support from the Ohio Small Grains Council, the FFA was able to donate 1,158 cans of food to the community REAP organization.
