Press Release - November 6, 2019
Agronomy TeamDear Community,

The North Union FFA Agronomy Career Development Event (CDE) team competed at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, IN on Wednesday and Thursday, October 30-31, 2019. The North Union team placed first out of the 36 state championship teams participating in this event. Team members are Joel Krebehenne, Kaylee Smith, Dean Wolfe and Avery Zwayer. Each of our team members received top honors individually; each placing in the top five overall spots in the nation along with each receiving a $1000.00 cash award. This is North Union's fifth National Championship under the direction of Coach Jared Evans. Agronomy is the science and technology of producing crops for food, fiber and fuel. FFA CDEs are competitive events that build on skills learned in the agriculture education classroom and prepare students for careers. North Union FFA advisors are Tom Jolliff and Breck Mooneyham.

Bailee Amstutz, also a member of the North Union FFA, placed second in the nation with her FFA science fair project. Bailee's project was in the area of social systems. She researched the perception of Ohio high school students on the taste of lamb from the United States, Australia and New Zealand. Congratulations to our competitors and their families, our advisors, our FFA Program, North Union High School, North Union Local School District and our community.

Sincerely,

Richard J. Baird, Superintendent
