District Begins Using Raptor Visitor Management System
January 28, 2022

Dear North Union Families,

For the safety of our staff and students, the North Union Local School District is pleased to announce that we will begin using the Raptor Visitor Management System. The system has been acquired to help protect our children by tracking visitors, contractors, and volunteers who come into our school, thus providing a safer, more monitored environment for the students.

Upon entering a building, all visitors are asked to report to the office and present a valid government issued identification which will be entered into the Raptor system in order to issue a badge identifying the name of the visitor, and time of their visit. The system alerts officials of offenders who may jeopardize the safety of our school.

Guests will return the badge prior to exiting the building and will be signed out of the system. Subsequent visits will not require a license. The visitor will report to the office, state his/her name and a badge will be printed from the individual’s information already in the system.

It is important to note that it only scans the visitor's name, date of birth, and photo for comparison with a national database of registered sex offenders. Additional visitor data from the driver's license is not gathered nor is the system connected to any other system.

A visitor’s badge will not be necessary for those who visit our schools simply to drop off an item in the office or pick up paperwork.

The safety of our students is our highest priority and the Raptor Visitor Management System provides a consistent way to aid in keeping our schools safer. If you have further questions, please see the answers to frequently asked questions on our website at https://www.n-union.k12.oh.us/raptor.aspx
