Dear 6th Grade Parent,
We will be offering your sixth grader the opportunity to participate in an overnight learning experience. It will take place Monday, May 16 through Wednesday, May 18. We are staying at NU HOP Outdoor Education Center (Hemlock Campus) near Butler, Ohio. The cost of the camp is $150.
This program is taught by an accredited group of staff. The students will take outdoor classes that follow the Ohio Academic State Standards.
NUHOP will hold an informational camp meeting in the middle school cafeteria on Tuesday, April 5 at 6:30. Parents and students will have the opportunity to ask the camp director any questions they may have, and to view a slide show presentation about the camp.
We will accept several payment options. You may make a full payment by Friday, April 29 or you can make two payments. The first payment of $75.00 is due on Thursday, March 24 and the second payment of $75.00 is due on Friday, April 29. Please place your child's first and last name in the "Memo" section of the check. If paying by cash, please place the money in an envelope with your child's first and last name. This year, students who sold Little Ceasars pizza kits will have that money applied to the cost of camp. Also, we will have some students needing financial assistance in order to attend camp. Donations are being accepted and will be applied to our scholarship fund.
We need the following permission slip returned to your child's homeroom teacher by Friday, March 11, whether your child is going or not. We will send additional forms home within the next few weeks. No payment is needed at this time, however you are welcome to send it in also. Additional information about what to bring and how to pack will be sent during the month of April, when we know who will be attending. We organize 6th grade camp on a volunteer basis. It is often more difficult than necessary to track down students, gather forms and collect payment. Please make sure that you and your child are aware of forms and payment due dates. ALL DUE DATES ARE FIRM. North Union has a responsibility to NUHOP to make payment and to turn in all necessary forms by the due date. If you cannot meet these payment due dates, please let us know ahead of time.
