Students With Negative Lunch Account Balances to Be Provided Alternative Meals
Dear North Union Families,

The federal program that fully funded school lunches ended after the 2021-22 school year.  Starting in the 2022-23 school year, families must qualify for a free or reduced lunch by applying here, or online at www.payschoolscentral.com in order to receive a free or reduced lunch. Please send the paper application to Bev Wasserbeck 12920 State Route 739, Richwood, OH 43344. To ensure the basic needs of each student are met, if a student forgets or does not have lunch money, he or she may “charge” for a school lunch to be paid later.  Charges are intended for a one time circumstance.

Particularly at the middle and high schools, charges have been increasing in frequency and value over the first semester, and we do not want families to fall too far in debt.  Therefore, as a reminder and to encourage the maintenance of the lunch accounts, students who have a current negative balance of $10.00 or more will be provided an alternative meal using a high level of discretion.  This meal will include a lunch meat or peanut butter and jelly sandwich, fruit, vegetable and milk.  No student at North Union will ever be denied a meal. We will start this on January 24, 2023.

We encourage families to make payments by credit or debit card at www.payschoolscentral.com. There is no fee for North Union parents to use this website. Students may bring payments to the cashiers in the lunch room as well.

Again, if you feel you may qualify for free or reduced meals or if you have any questions about your student’s lunch account, please call me at 740-943-1604 or email at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Bev Wasserbeck
