We have much to celebrate at North Union High School! Our Vex and FFA programs continue to shine in state, national, and world competition. Our athletic teams have won honors in our new athletic league, and construction on the new athletic facility has begun! North Union High School was recognized by US News & World Reports for our academic success. Our career pathways are gaining steam and equipping ALL students for the world of work. It’s a great time to be a Wildcat, and we have much to look forward to in the 2019-2020 school year.
Construction has begun on the new athletic facility. It will be located behind the high school next to the existing NUAC building will. It house practice space for athletes, meeting rooms, locker rooms, and a weight room. This space will support the growing interest and participation in our outstanding athletic programs. The facility will open in spring/summer 2020.
Every student is required to select one career pathway to explore at NUHS or Tri Rivers Career Center. (Please see the high school website for specific career pathway information.) Our goal is to expose students to in demand career fields and build their employability skills. Students have the ability to earn industry recognized credentials through their pathways, and we are adding new industry credentials every year. In 2018-2019, twenty-five students in our new pre nursing pathway earned the STNA (State Tested Nurses Aide) credential through success in their coursework, successful participation in a hands on clinical experience at a local nursing home, and earning passing scores on the State of Ohio STNA test. Several of these students are working in local nursing facilities and hospitals while enrolled in post secondary education in the healthcare field.
North Union High School was ranked in the top 40% of US Public Schools by US News & World Reports. Only the top 40% of schools earned eligibility to display a trademarked Best High Schools 2019 badge. U.S. News “Best” badges are widely recognized as symbols of excellence in U.S. education. (US News & World Reports 2019). We continue to improve our instructional practice to prepare students for success in post secondary education and the world of work. NUHS Faculty is engaging in yearlong professional development focused on increased student engagement and cultivating employability skills through creating collaborative, real world problem solving experiences in the classroom. Our mission is to create graduates that are grounded in knowledge, equipped for the world of work, and capable of navigating the future!
