NUMS VEX TEAM WINS RAMTEC QUALIFIER

NUMS VEX TEAM WINS RAMTEC QUALIFIER

The NUMS Vex Team had a very successful start to our competition season!  We competed in our first of eight events of the year, the RAMTEC Vex Middle School Qualifier, at Tri-Rivers last Thursday.  NUMS currently has 8 individual teams and a total of 28 students participating.  All of North Union's teams did well, some learning the ins and outs of a Vex match for the very first time. Our top team won 3 of the 4 awards at Thursday's contest!  They won the OSUM Judges Award for team interview and engineering notebook, earning them each a $1000 scholarship to OSUM.  They also won the Excellence Award, based on their notebook and their first place final rank at the end of qualification rounds.  They also were declared Tournament Champions after winning several intense rounds of robotic matches.   These awards qualified their team for the state tournament, which will be held on February 22 at Harding High School. Up for grabs at the state qualifier will be a chance for three middle school teams to attend the VEX World Championship in Anaheim, California in April 2014.  . Up for grabs at the state qualifier will be a chance for three middle school teams to attend the VEX World Championship in Anaheim, California in April 2014.
