In 5th Grade math students are working on two different STEM projects. Students are identifying 2D and 3D shapes, finding area of 2D shapes, surface area of 3D shapes, and creating houses from their 3D shapes.  The second STEM project is called Snowball Fight Catapult Project. Students are creating catapults to launch snowballs (mini marshmallows), measure the distances to the nearest eighth of an inch, plot those measurements on a line plot, and use their distances for data analysis (mean, median, mode, range, estimation of fractional units).
