Right to Read Week
Several events were hosted at NUES to celbrate Right to Read week.  Richwood Police officer Nicholson spoke with students about his work with K9 Klink.  K9 Klink is a 9 year old German Shepherd born in Czechoslovakia and has served the Richwood Police Department since September 2009. He is certified in tracking, narcotics detection, article recovery, and suspect apprehension. 
Elementary Featured in State of North Union Event
Richwood Bank graciously hosted another State of North Union event which featured the Elementary School on December 4, 2017.  Michaela Parish played a few selections on her violin and Tracy Zwayer and Robin Carlyle made a presentation about National Computer Science education wee. 
National Computer Science Education Week
Students at North Union Elementary celebrated National Computer Science Education week in several ways.  Classes in the LLC worked on various projects that week, including coding exercises.  
5th Graders Participate in Mayflower Challenge
5th graders from Kelly Edgar's science classes participated in a STEAM project which culminated at the Project Pride assembly Nov. 21. 
Food Drive Kick Off
In cooperatin with the high school, North Union Elementary held a food drive for local food banks.  Mrs. Allison and Mrs. Hirst hold a competition each year based on which team brings in the most canned goods and non-perishable food items. 
Third Grade Musical Performance
Third graders and their families participated in a folk dance evening November 16. 
First Graders Research Animals
Mrs. Willey’s class read stories about animals and how they communicate. They used Pebble Go to research animals . 
Third Grade AIR Test Prep Feast
 A juggler, a jester and the queen and her daughter entertained third graders in preparation and review for the first of the AIR tests this year. 
Energy Assembly Sponsored by Ohio Edison
North Union Elementary students in grades K-4 were treated to an assembly Monday, October 23.  The assembly focused on energy conservation. 
Kernals for Parents Event
Are you wondering what this "PAX" stuff is that your kids are talking about?  Join us to learn what the Kernals are that PAX is built upon.  The event is Thursday, November 2 from 6:00-8:30 at  the North Union Board Offices.
